About Jerome
Jerome grew rapidly in the late 1800s and early 1900s as one of the richest copper mining towns in the Southwest, its population swelling to over 10,000 at its peak before the mines closed and the town nearly became a ghost town by the mid-20th century. Artists and entrepreneurs gradually revived Jerome from the 1960s onward, and today its steep, historic streets are home to galleries, shops, and sweeping views across the Verde Valley below.
